So I'm told that part of my introduction to this place is to keep a computer journal here. Never had a computer of my own at home, so I'm not quite sure how to work this thing. Not that I'll be using this much, I don't think, since I don't really have anything to say.

Anyway. Hello, I'm Jay. Pretty hard to miss, with the long hair, big tattoo on my arm, huge red wings coming out of my back and whatnot. And before Paige starts telling any stories, yes I'm a Guthrie too. Seems like all of us are coming out to be muties. Next thing you know Liz will be growing into a giant or something.

Pardon me if I don't return pleasantries often. I'm not in the best of moods, what with the hate crimes and all.

Regarding the hate crimes; when people say the best revenge is living well? They mean it. But you'll figure that out for yourself in time.

Last time I checked I was the only one of me there is, so yes. Right now, I'm recovering from radiation sickness. It's one of the perks of the job, you know. What am I doing here in general? I retired, got bored, got offered a job, and here I am. I'm rather enjoying myself, with a few exceptions (see above, re: radiation sickness).

I've met both your siblings and yes; I'm positive that having another one of you around can only be a good thing.

Don't have much going for you? I'm not going to argue with you on that count, Jay, these things are so relative. I get it pointed out to me quite frequently that I can "pass" so I shouldn't speak about such things and I won't say the people making the point are wrong. What you do have left, what you do with it is up to you. I wish you luck with it.

I hope to see you in flight class, I'm one of the teachers.

Life is . . . complicated. It's the proverbial rose garden, but I'm stuck in the thorny part right now. If I could find myself a pair of shears, then it might not suck so much.

The radiation sickness is a side-effect of my other job. You'll find out about that in time.

I'll add you to the class list tonight and let Haroun know you'll be coming. Your instructors are myself, Haroun ibn Sallah al-Rashid, and Warren Worthington. You'll be seeing your brother in the class sometimes as well.

Um, okay. How any jobs can there be at a school anyway?

I have class with Sam? Is there any way we can make that not happen? Or at least have us on separate sides? I don't work well with him.

A school like this? You have no idea.

It'll be possible for you to avoid him for most of the class, I'm sure. However, you may have to just tough it out in order to complete some lessons. We'll see when your evaluation is done. I expect you'll be working on very different areas.

Bandages. Or tougher skin. Though if you manage the latter, you won't care about the thorns so much.
